"Previous to 1887, only the annual report of the executive committee was printed - the numbering being that of the report, and not of the annual meeting at which it was presented (i.e., the first annual report of the committee was submitted at the second annual meeting, and so on). But commencing with 1887 (the thirty-fourth annual meeting) the Proceedings of the meeting were printed, together with all the reports and papers presented thereat, and the publication took on the number of the meeting. This accounts for the apparent hiatus between the thirty-second annual report (1886) and the Proceedings of the thirty-fourth annual meeting (1887). These respective publications are consecutive."
