The present series was begun in 1888, and the first three volumes were originally numbered "t. iii-v" in continuation of the numbering of the earlier series. In 1890 it was decided to adopt a separate numbering for the later series and the first three volumes were reissued with title-pages corrected to read "t. i-iii" in place of "t. iii-v"; the volume numbers at the head of the indexes to these volumes were not corrected, however, so that the indexes to v. 1-3 still read: "Indice del tomo iii, ... del tomo iv, ... del tomo v.
An earlier series of Anales was issued in 1877 (2 v.)
