This fact sheet is an outreach tool, designed to assist producers as they attempt to determine whether their operations require coverage under a CAFO National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPEDS) permit. The following common livestock production scenarios and the correlating permitting status for each are designed to assist livestock producers in determining whether an operation requires a permit. A site evaluation by Agency staff may also provide design and operating criteria by which permit problems can be successfully reduced or avoided. "Jan. 2005" Caption title.
