On May 25, 1999, Illinois Senate Joint Resolution 37 called for the creation of a 23-member Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Task Force, to be appointed by the Director of the Illinois Dept. of Public Health. The Task Force was charged with making a preliminary report (due Jan. 13, 2000) and a final report (due June 30, 2000) containing legislative recommendations to the Illinois General Assembly that would enhance heart disease and stroke prevention for the people of Illinois.
