Interleaved. The name Yarington is perhaps fictious. The play may be an amalgamation of two earlier plays by Day, Haughton, and Chettle--"The tragedy of Thomas Merry" and "The orphan's tragedy," recorded in Henslowe's diary, but now lost. cf. Camb. hist. of Eng. lit., v. 5, p. 362-363; Dict. nat. biog. Original title: Tvvo Lamentable Tragedies. The one, of the murther of Maister Beech a Chaundler in Thames-streete, and his boye, done by Thomas Merry.
