Includes two plates by Francesco Piranesi, probably 1786 and 1788. Cf. Hind. Vol. 2 without t.p. "Pianta di Roma e del Campo Marzo" (approbatio 1778) precedes second leaf of plates. Robison, A. Vedute di Roma in: Piranesi, a cura di Alessandro Bettagno, 1978, Hind, A.M. Piranesi, Mode of access: Internet. Library's copy with bookplate of Carl Bonde, said to be a gift to Bonde of Gustavus III or IV, the former a patron of Francesco Piranesi. Shelved as RARE OVERSIZE 90-B18303 v.12. Generally, plates 1-59 show address but no price; Hind suggests a posthumous printing. Arabic and/or roman numbering on some plates. Robison proposes a reordering of the early plates. |
