The earlier volumes were issued in series as follows: Vols. 1-5 (1834/36-1847/49); n.s., v. 1-5 (1850/1852-1859/1861); 3rd ser., v. 1-5 (1862/1864-1865/1868); 1868-1925 unnumbered; in 1926 a consecutive numbering from the beginning was adopted, with ser. 1-3 renumbered as v. 1-15, 1869-1925 as v. 16-73, and 1926-1932 as v. 74-80.
The Proceedings of the Society were published in the Transactions until 1925, except in 1st ser., v. 4 and 3rd ser., v. 3-4. (The Journal of proceedings from Jan. 1840-Dec. 1846, though listed in the contents of 1st ser., v. 4, was published separately.) Since 1926 the Proceedings have been published in a separate series. (A detailed tabulated statement of the collation and dates of issue of the Proceedings published 1834-1895 may be found in an article in the Transactions for 1911, p. 750-767, entitled: On the dates of the publications of the Entomological Society of London, by the Rev. G. Wheeler.).
