Resumo

Section devoted to Trajan's Column dated 1775 in Francesco Piranesi's 1792 catalog, but based on dated MS entries for Vedute in G.B. Piranesi's Catalogo delle opere, this section was in existence in 1774. See J. Wilton-Ely, G.B. Piranesi, p. 743.

Trajan's column featured in leaves of plates 1-21; Aurelius' in 7. Some folded leaves are made up of several plates, which pasted together, display the entire column in detail. Images and leaves vary greatly in size. An unnumbered leaf of plates is an equestrian port. of Clement XIII, engraved by D. Cunego after J.D. Porta.

Library's copy with bookplate of Carl Bonde, said to be a gift to Bonde of Gustavus III or IV, the former a patron of Francesco Piranesi.
