The ports. are mostly within borders decorated with strapwork, allegorical figures, putti, etc. (left section of border on p. 134 printed upside down). The ports. on p. 17, 125 and 164, however, lack decorative borders and are larger in format (ca. 20 x 15 cm. instead of ca. 11 x 8 cm.). That on p. 17 is signed with the initials cVs, for Christoffel van Sichem I; see Thieme-Becker. Giovio's port. appears as frontispiece. Decorated and historiated initials, some after Hans Holbein (e.g. that on p. 140); see Hollstein.
