Main t.p. engraved by Cristofano Cartaro, the son of Mario Cartaro, incorporating Grassi's device (comet) and border images depicting the 7 corporal acts of mercy to be developed in the full-page engravings and text of the 1st pt. The special t.p. similarly has Grassi's device, and border images depicting the 7 spiritual acts of mercy treated in the 2nd pt. Each page of text within double-rule borders, containing references in the outer margin. Bonfadini's device at colophon (hedgehog). Head- and tail-pieces. Grotesque initials.

Colophon: Romae, Ex Typographia Bartholomaei Bonfadini, in via Peregrini, M.D.LXXXV.

"Pars posterior eorvm qvae ad animvm refervntvr" has special engraved t.p. (p. [45]).

Centered on front pastedown is bookplate of Annibal Fernandes Thomaz. On front flyleaf verso are bibliographical notes in Portuguese, partly translated into English, as well as the signature of Camillo Castello and the phrase: Comprado em Coimbra em 1873. At foot of t.p. is the signature of Don Antonio de Robles y Guzman, now lined out, and several others.

Binding: old sheepskin (17th c.?). Spine tooled in gilt, brief title on red label. Page edges sprinkled brown.
