T.p. vignette depicts the symbols of the three cities in a landscape that includes their 3 rivers and their arms on banners at the horizon. The 3 plates are bird's-eye views of the cities. That of Bern has the date 1549 and the initials RMD (Rudolf Manuel Deutsch). It appeared previously in Sebastian Münster's Cosmography (Basel : Henricpetri, 1550). According to Hollstein, it was cut by H.H. (Heinrich Holzmüller). The view of Strasbourg is dated 1588 has has the initials HIW (perhaps Hans Jörg Wannenwecz; see Nagler). The view of Zurich is also dated 1588.
