Issued also as the first in a series of four volumes to cover British poetry from the publication of Tottel's miscellany, 1557; the other volumes being The book of restoration verse, The book of Georgian verse, and The book of Victorian verse (not yet published?) Previously published: Boston, H. B. Turner & co., 1906 and 1907. Title vignette, woodcut after a plate of Whitehall Palace dated 1590. Frontispiece, photogravure reproduction after the plate "Cupid seated on clouds" engraved by S. W. Reynolds after W. Owen. cf. Prospectus of the Shakespeare library. Includes poems by Shakespeare.
