Mr. Cline's lectures on anatomy & surgery, 1799-1800 (inclusive)

Volume containing notes on the lectures of Henry Cline (1750-1827), a surgeon at St. Thomas's Hospital, London, England, that were kept by American medical student John Collins Warren in 1799 and 1800. The lectures were on topics including blood, blood vessels, absorbents, cellular membranes, and the nerves. There are annotations in pencil in an unknown hand throughout the volume.

John Collins Warren (1778-1856), A.B., 1797, Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts; M.D., 1801, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, was the first dean of Harvard Medical School (1816-1819). He became an adjunct professor of Anatomy and Surgery at Harvard in 1809, and he succeeded his father, John Warren (1753-1815), as Hersey Professor of Anatomy and Surgery upon the elder Warren's death. Warren amassed a collection of anatomical specimens, which he gifted to Harvard in 1847, along with an endowment of $5,000 in railroad stock, to support the establisment of the Warren Anatomical Museum. Warren also helped found the Massachusetts General Hospital in 1811.
