Benjamin Gale (1715-1790), A.B., Yale College, New Haven, Connecticut, was a physician practicing in Killingworth (now Clinton), Connecticut. He studied medicine with Dr. Jared Eliot (1685-1763) and assumed Eliot's practice. In 1765, Gale published "Historical Memoirs, Relating to the Practice of Inoculation for the Small Pox" in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, and he unsuccessfully lobbied the General Asssembly of Connecticut for permission to establish a smallpox hospital. He also was a representative to the General Assembly from 1747 to 1770.
