Resumo

Contains chiefly correspondence with Secretary of State William Pitt, including a letter, dated 22 Sept. 1759, describing the fall of Québec and the death of Wolfe.

Manuscript copies in a secretarial hand of letters sent and received from the secretary of state, generals and governors; 30 Dec. 1757-13 Dec. 1759.

Letters sent and received arranged in a dos-à-dos fashion; index at the front of each section.

Written into a notebook of quarter calf with marbled paper boards.

In a pull-off case by Rivière & Son.

Saunders was vice-admiral and commander of the British fleet bound for the St. Lawrence and was joined on his flagship Neptune by Major-Gen. James Wolfe in 1759.
