Resumo

Leather top-bound volume containing notes kept by Solomon Prentice on sermons he attended between April 1724 and December 17, 1726, while he was an undergraduate at Harvard College. The volume contains one-to-two page entries on specific sermons and provides the biblical text and related questions and conclusions.

Received in the Harvard University Library on October 27, 1947 fom Professor William K. Prentice of Princeton, New Jersey. A note dated December 1870 and attached to the front cover reads: "These are manuscript notes taken by Solomon Prentice of the various semons he heard while pursuing his studies at the Cambridge university in the years 1724-1727. Two 1870 letters about the volume from C. J. F. Binney to Ezra Prentice are held in the control file for the item.

Samuel Prentice (1705-1773), a Massachusetts minister, was born on May 11, 1705 in Cambridge, Mass. He received an AB from Harvard in 1727 and an AM in 1730. Prentice was ordained on December 29, 1731 as the minister of Hassanamisco (later Grafton), Mass. Prentice was dismissed from the Grafton church in 1747, and he was ordained as the minister of Easton, Mass. on November 18, 1747, and later as the minister of Hull, Mass. on March 21, 1768. Prentice died on May 22, 1773.
