Eight-page handwritten essay written by Harvard graduate Robert Fowle for the 1786 Harvard College Commencement ceremonies. The essay begins, "While different objects crowd the inraptur'd Mind..." and contains classical illusions. The text contains struck-out words and edits. by Robert Fowle Received in the Harvard College Library on June 26, 1918 from C. H. Cutts-Howard of Beebe, Arkansas. Robert Fowle (1766-1847), a New Hampshire minister, was born in Newburyport, Mass. in 1766. He received an AB from Harvard College in 1786. He was ordained as the minister of Holderness, New Hampshire on June 29, 1791 and served there for forty-six years. Fowle died on October 16, 1847. |
