Resumo |
Stoughton's bond for forty pounds to the constable of Dorchester, Massachusetts, guaranteeing the appearance of Daniel Elders at court. Elders was the defendant in a suit brought by Mitchel Bacon of Woburn against Daniel Elders of Dorchester. With wax seal. Permission to publish is required. Stoughton, A.B. Harvard (1650), a colonial magistrate, served as deputy from the Massachusetts Colony to England (1677-1679), lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts (1692-1701), and acting governor of Massachusetts (1694-1699, 1700-1701). He was chief justice of the Superior Court of Oyer and Terminer, which tried the Salem witchcraft cases of 1692. |
