Resumo

One octavo-sized leaf containing a one-page handwritten draft of a resolution by a Harvard Corporation Committee appointed to "lay out an High Way thro' Rogers's Farm & determine about the Cost of the Sd way & the making the fences to enclose it." The resolution permits the town of Waltham to lay a highway on the farm's property as long as it is enclosed by a stone wall.

The paper is fragile and torn.

In 1660, Rev. Ezekiel Rogers bequeathed his farm in Rowley, Mass. to Harvard. The College sold the property and used the income to purchase a farm in Waltham, Mass. known both as the Rogers's farm and the Waltham farm. The Corporation leased the property until May 13, 1830, when it was sold to Nahum Hardy.

The final draft of the document is transcribed in the February 27, 1762 Corporation records: minutes (UAI 5.30).

Additional materials on Rogers farm and Waltham farm are held in the Harvard University Archives in: Harvard University. Corporation. Records of land and property owned by Harvard University, 1643-1835 (UAI 15.750).
