A estética do grotesco em Harmada e A céu aberto, de João Gilberto Noll

Esta dissertação propõe-se a discutir a configuração e articulação da estética do grotesco presente nos romances Harmada (2003) e A céu aberto (2008), de João Gilberto Noll. Para tal fim, o trabalho desdobra-se a compreendê-los, primordialmente, a partir de seus narradores-personagens que se pautam por características opostas ao heroísmo – quando se pensa no papel de personagens que executam – e que se distanciam da estrutura usual de uma narrativa – pensando-se na posição de narradores por eles ocupada. Dessa forma, com base nos pressupostos teóricos apresentados por Walter Benjamin acerca do narrador, bem como nas postulações de Hall, Jameson e Eagleton, sobre a identidade do sujeito pós-moderno, evidenciaremos a maneira com que, em Noll, a estrutura e o conteúdo dos romances questionam à narrativa tradicional e dão margem a uma leitura que revela a “crise” da narrativa e do sujeito, por meio do processo de esvaziamento desses narradores-personagens. Compreendendo-se, a partir de autores como Kayser, Bakhtin, Hugo e Sodré, os pressupostos teóricos do grotesco, verificar-se-á como ele reúne em si o corpo e a voz desses protagonistas, tornando-se um elemento estético que articula forma e conteúdo, deixando de ser apenas um elemento temático, para mostrar-se, também, como procedimento literário

This paper aims at discuss the configuration and articulation of the grotesque in the novels Harmada (2003) and A céu aberto, written by João Gilberto Noll. Therefore, the present thesis analyses both novels, mainly, from their first-person narrators which have opposite characteristics to the heroism – thinking about them only as characters – and which structure the narrative in an unusual form – when we see them just as narrator. Thus, based on Walter Benjamin and his theory about the narrator, and also in Hall, Jameson and Eagleton, about the identity of the post-modern man, we will point how the structure and the content of these novels disturb the order and the aspects of a traditional way of a narrative and induce an interpretation which reveals the “crises” of narrative and of man by the process of emptiness of the main characters. Comprehending, by authors as Kayser, Bakhtin, Hugo and Sodré, the grotesque theory, we are able to verify how this aesthetic combines in itself the body and the voice of the main characters, becoming an aesthetic element that articulates form and content, being not only a thematic component, but also a literary procedure
