Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) Processo FAPESP: 06/59692-5 Africana dardanelosi n. sp. is described from the intestine oft he lizard Hoplocercus spinosus Fit zinger, 1843 collected from Southern Amazon, Brazil. Africana dardanelosi is the third species of the genus occurring in the Neotropical realm and is the tenth species assigned to the genus. From other Species of Africana from Africa. and especially from the Neotropical species (A. telfordi Bursey and Goldberg, 2002 and A. chabaudi Baker, 1981), A. dardanelosi is easily distinguished by spicule size (2,157-2,403 pm versus 366-458 mu m and 644-869 mu m, respectively) and by the number of caudal papillae (13 versus 17 and 10, respectively). |
