A Representação discursiva da figura feminina no jornal O Porvir (Currais Novos/Rio Grande do Norte - 1926-1929)

The objective of this paper is to analyze how the female figure was portrayed in discursive narratives in the bi-weekly newspaper O PORVIR , which circulated in Currais Novos, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, between May 2, 1926 and January 20, 1929. Our analysis was based on the semantics of the text, by applying one of the primary concepts used in Textual Analysis of Speeches, Discursive Representation (ADAM, 2011; RODRIGUES; PASSEGGI; SILVA NETO, 2010). Textual Analysis of Speeches has its roots in Textual Linguistics and consists of a theoretical and descriptive approach (ADAM, 2011). This research is characterized as documentary (SEVERINO, 2007) and its corpus includes a review of 39 editions of the aforementioned newspaper, of which we extracted 292 articles that dealt with the female figure and 396 statements for analysis. We used the following semantic categories: referencing (CASTILHO, 2010; NEVES, 2007; KOCH; MARCUSCHI, 1998; MARCUSCHI, 2008; KOCH, 2009); predication (NEVES, 2007; RODRIGUES; PASSEGGI; SILVA NETO, 2010); modification (ADAM, 2011); and spacial and temporal localization (RODRIGUES; PASSEGGI; SILVA NETO, 2010). Our analysis revealed that lady, mother, wife and homemaker were most represented, and always combined with questions about motherhood, marriage and devotion to the home. Neste trabalho, temos por objetivo analisar como se constroem as representações discursivas da figura feminina no jornal O PORVIR, periódico quinzenal que circulou na cidade de Currais Novos, no estado do Rio Grande do Norte, de 02 de maio de 1926 até 20 de janeiro de 1929. Pautou-se no nível semântico do texto, fazendo uso de uma das principais noções utilizadas pela Análise Textual dos Discursos para esse tipo de procedimento analítico, que é a Representação Discursiva (ADAM, 2011; RODRIGUES; PASSEGGI; SILVA NETO, 2010). A Análise Textual dos Discursos tem sua origem no âmbito da Linguística Textual e constitui-se uma abordagem teórica e descritiva (ADAM, 2011). Esta pesquisa caracteriza-se como documental (SEVERINO, 2007) e tem como corpus de análise 39 edições do referido jornal, das quais foram retirados 292 textos que abordavam a figura feminina e selecionados 396 enunciados para análise. Para tanto, utilizou-se das seguintes categorias semânticas, a saber: referenciação (CASTILHO, 2010; NEVES, 2007; KOCH; MARCUSCHI, 1998; MARCUSCHI, 2008; KOCH, 2009); predicação, (NEVES, 2007; RODRIGUES; PASSEGGI; SILVA NETO, 2010); modificação (ADAM, 2011); e localização espacial e temporal (RODRIGUES; PASSEGGI; SILVA NETO, 2010). A análise dos dados aponta que senhorinha, mãe, esposa e dona de casa foram as representações mais presentes, em consonância sempre com as questões de ordem da maternidade, do casamento e da dedicação ao lar, as quais não se distanciam dos modelos preconizados no início do século XX, para servirem de padrão para essa figura
