Fenômeno teatral nascido na Itália, a Commedia dell Arte chegou ao seu apogeu no século XVI e se espalhou pelo mundo todo podendo ser vista como a base do teatro moderno. Apesar de tratar-se de uma manifestação teatral não mais existente na atualidade, entendemos que a Commedia dell Arte constituiu-se um fenômeno artístico cuja estética, centrada no imaginário popular e no improviso, permitiu uma rica possibilidade de comunicação verbal e não-verbal que hoje pode ser encontrada e retomada em produções teatrais contemporâneas. Partindo de uma apreciação estética, este trabalho tem como objetivo enfocar as referências estéticas que configuram esse gênero teatral, bem como essas referências podem contribuir para o ensino das Artes Cênicas na atualidade. Recorremos a textos e imagens da Commedia dell Arte, bem como referências históricas que os contextualizam, como fontes de investigação que se intersignificam e se complementam numa reflexão estética para a criação de sentidos diversos e novas interpretações para o objeto investigado tendo-se como base algumas categorias de análise como: o corpo do ator, o texto, os espaços de atuação e as categorias estéticas tais como o feio, o cômico e o grotesco. Investigar a estética da Commedia dell Arte no âmbito do ensino das Artes Cênicas é uma forma de estar compreendendo o universo artístico de três séculos atrás que pode estar sendo ressignificado, revivido, nos apontando possibilidades de um ensino de arte capaz de incentivar a crítica, a apreciação, a discussão e a transgressão de verdades instituídas. Tendo investigado as configurações estéticas da Commedia dell Arte ressaltamos quatro pontos que julgamos significativos para pensarmos o ensino das artes cênicas, são eles: A articulação entre o corpo, o texto e os espaços de atuação nos espetáculos; relação esta que se dava entre os corpos dos atores e dos espectadores e de todo gestual que fazia parte da cena num espaço cênico popular, uma concepção de corpo do ator que transgride com as verdades impostas socialmente, que é capaz de admitir sua dimensão dionisíaca, criativa e ambígua no fazer teatral; a concepção de texto que extrapola o âmbito da palavra escrita pelo dramaturgo e falada pelos atores, estendendo-se a outros elementos de significação presentes na cena como a gestualidade, as paródias, as noticias recentes, as gags e as palavras usadas no cotidiano; o espaço cênico como uma relação simbólica entre ator e espectador que possibilita uma espécie de pacto lúdico favorecido pela verdade cênica dos artistas que atua em espaços inusitados oferecendo graus de participação na construção do fenômeno cênico; e a importância das categorias estéticas tais como o feio, o cômico e o grotesco, categorias estas que alicerçam um fazer cênico transgressor possibilitando trocas mútuas entre ator e apreciador. A relação das categorias estéticas em articulação contínua entre o corpo do ator, o texto e o espaço cênico se manifesta no fazer teatral e na sua apreciação. Acreditamos que a reflexão estética sobre a Commedia dell Arte nas aulas de artes a partir dos pontos destacados pode favorecer possibilidades de compartilhar descobertas, idéias, sentimentos, atitudes, ao permitir a observação de diversos pontos de vista, estabelecendo a relação do indivíduo com o coletivo de forma participativa e democrática
