Resumo

The author reflects on the importance of early psychosis intervention services. She says health decision-makers are planning to include the results of health economic analyses within resource allocation decisions. She refers to a study which showed that early intervention services may save about 14,000 British pounds per patient to the mental health sector. She notes that economic evaluations of early intervention for other mental health problems are also found to be cost-effective.<br />
