Resumo

An understanding of speed as distance travelled per unit time is fundamental to the development of the more complex conception of acceleration. This paper examines the opportunities provided for upper primary children to reveal and modify their pre-conceptions of speed through a walking activity developed as part of the Practical Mechanics in Primary Mathematics project.<br />
