“El camino desde Sefarad”. La historiografía de la presencia judía en España

Este artículo es un análisis sobre la evolución y el estado actual de la historiografía referente a la presencia judía en España, con el fin de entender su significación y alcance en la construcción de la nación española. El tema despertó interés a partir del siglo XIX como parte de lo que en ese momento se denominó el “problema de España”. Antes de este período, los estudios sobre la importancia de la presencia judía en la Península fueron escasos. Las menciones a los judíos antes de este siglo tenían un sesgo religioso muy marcado, con una tendencia a menospreciar su influencia. A partir del siglo XIX se comenzó a entender que la formación de España como concepto y realidad histórica está permeada por lo judío, además, que reconocer su influencia también ayuda a la comprensión de las múltiples formas de ser y de entender el mundo que conocemos como ‘hispanidad’.------This article analyses the evolution and status of the historiography about the Jewish presence in Spain aimed at understanding its significance and scope in the construction of the Spanish nation. The topic has awakened researchers’ interest since the nineteenth century as part of what was denominated “Spain’s problem.” Before this period, there were few studies on the relevance of Jewish presence in the Spanish peninsula. Any comments on Jewish people before that century were markedly biased by religion and tending to despise their influence. Then, since the nineteenth century it was understood that the formation of Spain as a notion and historic reality has been Jewish permeated, moreover their influence helps understand the multiple ways of being and of understanding the world that we know as “Hispanicity”.
