Prevalencia de síntomas osteomusculares en miembros superiores en trabajadores de una fábrica de calzado.

Los desórdenes musculo esqueléticos (DME) son entidades comunes y potencialmente discapacitantes, pero aun así prevenibles que comprenden un amplio número de entidades clínicas específicas (1); se pueden presentar durante la jornada laboral y en muchas ocasiones no son detectados en los exámenes ocupacionales. Se calculó la prevalencia de síntomas osteomusculares de miembro superior en una fábrica de calzado.

Introduction: Muscle skeletal disorders (DME) are common and potentially disabling entities, but are still preventable comprising a large number of specific clinical conditions(1); they can occur during working time and in many cases these symptoms are not detected in occupational exams. We calculated the prevalence of these symptoms at a shoe factory. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in November 2013 in order to evaluate the frequency of musculoskeletal symptoms in the upper limb presented in workers at a shoe factory in the city of Bogota, in order to generate recommendations that reduce the risk factors improving their quality of life. Results: A total of 67 workers were included, 61% had some type of symptom in upper limb, with some involvement in two different segments. The most affected region was the neck (31.3%) followed by the right hand wrist (28.3 %). The risk of presenting symptoms comparing to riskier positions ranked according RULA did not show a statistically significant association (OR 0.52 95% CI 0.17-1.5).
