Cataloguing with RDA

Quoique développé sur les bases établies par les Règles de catalogage anglo-américaines (RCCA2), la nouvelle norme de catalogage qu’est Ressources : description et accès (RDA) correspond à une nouvelle approche et comporte un certain nombre de changements par rapport aux RCAA2. Cette communication présente les résultats d’un exercice consistant à cataloguer une partition et un enregistrement sonore musical selon les RCAA2 et RDA. Pour chaque ressource, deux notices MARC ont été préparées, l’une selon les RCAA2 et l’autre selon RDA. La comparaison des deux notices permettra de mettre en lumière certaines différences entre les deux codes.

Although based on the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2), the new cataloguing standard that is Resources : Description and Access (RDA) represents a new approach and presents a number of changes to AACR2. In this presentation, the results of an exercise in which a score and a music sound recording have been catalogued according to AACR2 and RDA will be presented. For each resource, two MARC records have been prepared, one according to AACR2 and the other according to RDA. Comparing the two records will highlight some of the differences between the two cataloguing codes.
