A roll of non-commissioned Officers, Drummers, & Private men enlisted for the first Battalion of the King’s Royal Regiment of New York, 1781 [photocopy]

The King’s Royal Regiment of New York was a Loyalist regiment that served on the Canadian frontier during the American Revolutionary War. The regiment was commanded by Sir John Johnson, who recruited members from the settlers on his estates in the Mohawk Valley. After the War, the two battalions of the regiment were disbanded. The First Battalion settled on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, while the Second Battalion settled by the Bay of Quinte.

A photocopied list entitled “A roll of non-commissioned Officers, Drummers & Private men enlisted for the First Battalion of the King’s Royal Regiment of New York since the formation of it to the present date, commanded by Lieut. Col. Sir John Johnson, Knight & Bar”. The list is dated at Point Clair, 17th May 1781 and has 4 pages.
