The Kramerius System is an open source software for a digital library based on Fedora Common repository. It belongs between most important development activities of the National Library of the Czech Republic and the Library of the Academy of Sciences. At the present time, more than 10,000,000 unique pages are available in this system via their digital libraries. What is rare in the broader European context is the fact that Kramerius System is used by nearly 30 libraries in the Czech Republic. This makes possible an effective method of data replication and cooperation in system development throughout the country. It enables to create roof over all Czech digital libraries by harvesting of local instances. Kramerius serves for digital documents dissemination with support of virtual collections, user profiles and social networks. It supports commonly used standards such as OAI-PMH, METS, MODS, DC and FOXML. The solution is, beside Fedora, based on other freely available software and tools - Java, Lucene SOLR and Postgres SQL. The development was till end of 2013 available at https://code.google.com/p/kramerius/ and currently was moved to https://github.com/ceskaexpedice/kramerius. The Kramerius system interface is available in Czech and English language and it’s possible to extend it to other languages.
