Panel at Open Repositories 2014, Helsinki, Finland, June 9-13, 2014

General Track Papers and Panels

The aim of the session is to provide a forum for informed discussion on the subject of sustainable business models for OA services, especially those related to, or supporting open access repositories. Furthermore, input gathered will be used to guide further work on this within Knowledge Exchange - Jisc (UK), SURF (Netherlands), DFG (Germany), DEFF (Denmark) and CSC (Finland). Those attending the panel session will be invited to review the outputs from a significant programme of work led by the Knowledge Exchange comprising three reports and a major workshop in Feb 2014, covering the needs of individual OA services and of the infrastructure more broadly. The panel will comprise the proposal authors, who have been closely involved in this work. Each member of the panel will give a short perspective on the work, its value and implications for service providers, organisations supporting research infrastructure, and research funders. There will be extensive opportunities for those attending the panel session to put their own perspectives, allowing the panel to respond, and concluding with a summary of priorities and next steps on this important topic.
