Presentation at Open Repositories 2014, Helsinki, Finland, June 9-13, 2014 General Track Papers and Panels The session was recorded and is available for watching (this presentation starts at 0:22:22) The Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP3) is an international initiative to convert key journals in the field of High Energy Physics to Open Access. Every year there will be 5000 new articles ingested to the repository. This unique collaboration of over 1000 libraries and research centers from 24 countries makes possible the conversion of 10 journals form 6 publishers to be fully or partially Open Access. The paper describes requirements of the SCOAP3 repository as well as some solutions for implementation. It shows methods for multi-source harvesting and explains how the connections between publishers and libraries were built. It also depicts the problems encountered on the way and summarizes the important lessons we learned. |
