Väriavaruuden rakenteen muokkaaminen yhtenäisyyden parantamiseksi

Pienien värierojen mittaamiseen käytetään CIE:n (The International Commission on Illumination) kehittämää ja standardoitua CIELAB – väriavaruutta ja sille suunniteltua CIEDE2000 – värieromittaria. CIELAB ei kuitenkaan ole täysin yhtenäinen ja siksi mittareita joudutaan virittämään sopivammiksi tähän väriavaruuteen. Työssä tutkitaan millä tavoin CIELAB - väriavaruutta voitaisiin korjata, jotta siitä saataisiin yhtenäisempi ja yksinkertainen ja virittämättömämpi värieromittari toimisi siinä paremmin. Työn tuloksena saatu muokattu väriavaruus paransi yhtenäisyyttä keskimäärin kymmenen prosenttia, mikä on liian vähän kun tavoitteena oli 30 - 50 prosenttia.

The small color differences are measured using the standardized CIELAB - color space developed by the CIE (The International Commission on Illumination) and the CIEDE2000 – color difference meter. CIELAB is not perfectly uniform and, therefore, the metrics need to be tuned for this color space. We examine the ways to fix the existing CIELAB color space to gain more uniform space so that a simpler meter can be used without laborious tuning. As a result of this work the new optimized color space refined uniformity approximately ten percent which was too little since the pursued amount was 30 – 50 percent.
