Varastojen hallinta projektiohjautuvassa toimintaympäristössä

Varastoihin sitoutuu yrityksissä paljon arvokasta pääomaa ja varastojen hallinnan osaaminen on noussut yhdeksi kilpailueduksi liiketoiminnassa. Varastoinnilla pyritään suojautumaan puutetilanteilta ja ylläpitämään haluttu palveluaste. Tutkielmassa selvitetään case yrityksen varastojen hallinnan nykytila ja nostetaan esille varastojen hallinnan ongelmatilanteet. Työn tavoitteena on muodostaa organisaation johdolle kokonaiskuva case yrityksen varastoista ja varastoinnin nykytilasta. Työ toteutetaan tapaustutkimuksena, ja aineisto kerätään organisaation henkilökunnasta valituille henkilöille suoritetuilla haastatteluilla. Haastatteluilla saadaan selville varastojen hallinnan toimintamallit ja toiminnan ongelmakohdat varastopaikkakunnilla. Työn tuloksena muodostetaan kokonaiskuva yrityksen varastotoiminnoista ja saadaan selville ongelmien taustalla olevat syyt. Ongelmien perusteella luodaan malli kehitystyön etenemiselle. Lopuksi työssä esitetään toimenpide- ehdotuksia varastojen hallinnan toimintojen jatkokehittämiseen.

In organisations, inventories tie up a lot of valuable capital and managing inventories can gain competitive advantage in business environment. Inventories are held to protect against lack of materials and to maintain a certain level of customer service. This thesis defined current situation of inventory management in the case company and pointed out problems in inventory control. The purpose of this thesis is to form a general view of case company’s current inventories for the executives. The method of research in this thesis is case study and the research material is collected by interviews made for the selected group of organisation’s employees. As a result from the interviews, general functions of inventories and the problems in inventory control are found. Reasons for the problems in the inventories are defined and a general view of inventory management is built as a result of the research. A model based on the problems in inventories is created to develop inventory control. In the end of the thesis recommendations for future inventory development activities are presented.
