IT-palveluiden ulkoistaminen -transaktiokustannusteoreettinen tapaustutkimus

Tutkielman tavoitteena on selvittää, mitä IT-palveluita ja miten yrityksen kannattaa ulkoistaa sekä arvioida ulkoistamiseen liittyviä välillisiä kustannuksia. Tutkimuksen teoreettisen taustan muodostavat transaktiokustannusteoria ja Simonsin päätöksentekomallista johdettu IT-palveluiden ulkoistamisprosessia kuvaava malli. Empiirisessä osassa käytetään esimerkkinä yritystä, joka on valikoivasti ulkoistanut IT-palveluitaan. Ulkoistamistapauksista kerättiin tietoja teemahaastatteluin. Tutkielman tulosten mukaan onnistuneen IT-palvelun ulkoistamisen tekijöitä ovat pohjatyön tekeminen ja vertailupohjan rakentaminen, sopimuksen tarkkuus, toimittajan toiminnan mittaaminen sekä IT-osaston välittävän roolin huomioiminen sopimuksen jälkeisessä toiminnassa.

The objective of the study is to find out which IT services enterprises should outsource and how they should do this and estimate the amount of indirect cost related to outsourcing. The theoretical foundations of the study are transaction cost theory and the decision model for IT outsourcing process derived from Simon’s general decision making model. In the empirical section, an enterprise, which have selectively outsourced IT services, is used as an example. The experiences of the case enterprise were collected using interviews. The results of the study shows that the factors of successful outsourcing of IT services are good preparation before decision making and calculating a business case, accuracy of the outsourcing contract, measurement of the supplier performance and taking into consideration the new, intermediary role of IT department after the outsourcing contract has been made.
