LDAP-pohjainen yrityshakemisto WWW-ympäristöön

Diplomityössä perehdytään nykyisiin hakemistotekniikoihin ja niiden hyödyntä-miseen. World Wide Web on tuonut hakemistomaailmaankin aivan uusia ulottuvuuksia ja tästä on osoituksena LDAP-hakemistoprotokollan suosion merkittävä kasvu. LDAP soveltuu Internet-maailmaan erinomaisesti keveytensä, helppokäyttöisyytensä ja nopeutensa ansiosta. Käytännön osuudessa toteutettiin LDAP-tekniikkaa hyödyntävä yrityshakemisto, jolla voitiin WWW-käyttöliittymällä etsiä ja muokata yrityksen henkilö- ja yksikkötietoja. Työn tarkoitus oli selvittää LDAP:n soveltuvuutta kaupalliseen sovellukseen ja kerätä kokemuksia siihen liittyvistä asioista ja tekniikoista.

This Master's thesis introduces current directory technologies and illustrates how to integrate them with other technologies. The success of Internet and World Wide Web has given Lightweight Directory Access Protocol a good push and it is now regarded as the one and only directory protocol to be used in Internet. The main advantage of LDAP is its lightweightness and ease-of-use while still being reasonably fast. The practical part of this thesis describes how to implement a fully working cor-porate directory by using LDAP and other web-based technologies. Application's WWW-based user interface allows users to browse and modify corporate's personnel and organizational information. The main goal of this work was to examine how LDAP adopts to commercial use and to gather experiences on directories and technologies, which can be used with them.
