Puupellettien soveltuvuus energiantuotantoon

Puupelletit ovat mekaanisen puunjalostusteollisuuden sivutuotteista valmistettua puupuristetta, jota käytetään pääasiallisesti lämmityspolttoaineena. Suomessa puupellettien käyttö on ollut toistaiseksi vähäistä. Pellettien käyttö on Euroopassa suurinta Ruotsissa, jossa pellettiliiketoiminta on viime vuosina kasvanut voimakkaasti. Puupellettituotantolaitoksia on maahamme perustettu viime aikoina useita ja lisäksi hankkeita on vireillä. Työ on muodoltaan soveltuvuustutkimus, Feasibility Study. Työssä selvitetään puupellettien tuotannon ja käytön tekniikkaa sekä taloutta. Työssä kartoitetaan myös puupellettiliiketoiminnan laajenemisen mahdollisia esteitä ja selvitetään mahdollisuuksia puupellettiliiketoiminnan kasvulle Suomessa.

The wood pellets are tree pressed article made by secondary products of the mechanical wood processing industry. Wood pellets are mainly used as heating fuel. In Finland the use of wood pellets has been minor for the present. The use of wood pellets is the biggest in Europe in Sweden in which wood pellet business has increased strongly during the last few years. Wood pellet production plants have been established in our country during the lately, furthermore, there are several and projcets under discussion. The form of the work is a feasibility study. In the work the techinique and economy of the production and use of wood pellets are clarified. In the work also the possible obstacles of the enlarging of the wood pellet business are surveyed and possibilities to the growth of the wood pellet business in Finland are clarified.
