Internet-palveluntarjoajan luotettava autentikointijärjestelmä

Internet-palveluntarjoaja haluaa tarjota palveluitaan vain omille asiakkailleen. Niinpä Internetin käyttäjien autentikointi on tärkeä osa Internet-palveluntarjoajan kokonaisjärjestelmässä. Jopa asiakkaiden laskutus saattaa perustua luotettavaan autentikointiin. Internet-palveluntarjoajan autentikointijärjestelmä perustuu usein AAA-malliin, joka pitää sisällään käyttäjien autentikoinnin, auktorisoinnin ja käyttötilastojen keräämisen. Tässä työssä esitellään AAA-mallia ja autentikointijärjestelmään läheisesti liittyviä muita teknologioita. Työn käytännön osassa tutustutaan Internet-palveluntarjoajan AAA-ohjelmiston uusimiseen. Tuloksena oli tulevaisuuden tarpeisiin paremmin sopiva AAAjärjestelmä. Samalla esitellään myös joitakin ideoita järjestelmän kehittämiseksi edelleen.

An Internet service provider wants to provide its services to only its own customers. That is the basic reason why authentication of the Internet users is an important part of an Internet service providers overall system. Even the billing of customers may be based on reliable authentication. The authentication system of an Internet service provider is usually based on an AAA model, which includes authentication, authorisation and accounting. This thesis introduces the AAA model and also some other technologies which are related to the authentication system. The practical part of the thesis introduces replacing the AAA software with a new one. As a result, the AAA system is now ready to face the challenges of the future. Also some ideas to improve the overall AAA architecture are presented.
