Tuoteprojektien tiedonhallinnan toimintamalli

Yritysten viimeaikaisten toiminnan hajauttamiseen sekä parempaan asiakastyytyväisyyteen tähtäävien liiketoimintasuuntausten johdosta projekteissa syntyvän tiedon määrä on kasvanut ja hallinta vaikeutunut. Tilanteen vuoksi yrityksissä on otettu käyttöön erilaisia menetelmiä sekä projekteissa syntyvän että tuotteisiin liittyvän tiedon hallintaan. Tämän diplomityön aiheena oli tutkia erityisesti tuotetiedon hallintajärjestelmiä hyödyntävien tuoteprojektien tiedonhallintaa. Tutkimuksen perusteella oli tavoitteena kehittää tuoteprojektien tiedonhallinnan toimintamalli kotimaiseen puolustusvälineteollisuuteen kuuluvalle Patria Asejärjestelmät -liiketoiminnalle. Teoriaosuudessa tarkasteltiin tuoteprojekteja, niissä syntyvää tietoa sekä niiden tiedonhallintaa. Lisäksi pohdittiin muun muassa tuotetiedon hallintajärjestelmien projektien hallintaan ja tiedonhallintaan liittyviä ominaisuuksia. Yritysosuudessa kartoitettiin Asejärjestelmien organisaation tietotarpeet ja luotiin yrityksen tuotetiedon hallintajärjestelmään näitä tarpeita vastaavat tiedon tallennusrakenteet. Myös tuoteprojekteissa syntyvien dokumenttien hallinnan menettelyohjeet päivitettiin uuden ympäristön mukaiseksi. Työn kannalta keskeisemmäksi ongelmaksi osoittautui projekteissa syntyvän tuotetiedon hallinta. Uudessa toimintamallissa Asejärjestelmissä siirrytään hallitsemaan tuotetietoa projekteista riippumattomasti. Lisäksi työssä esitetään useita kehitysehdotuksia tuoteprojektien tiedonhallinnan jatkokehitykselle.

Today companies are decentralizing their businessess and trying to better satisfy the requirements of their customers. As a result of these trends, the amount of information in projects has increased and the management of that information has become more complex. To overcome these problems, companies have adopted new methods for controlling the information concerning projects and products. The aim of this Master's Thesis was to study the project information management especially in product projects using product data management (PDM) systems. On the basis of this study, information management procedures for product projects were to be developed for Patria Weapon Systems (PWS). On the theory part, subjects like product projects, the information created in them and the management of that information were examined. In addition to that, PDM-systems' characteristics concerning project management and project information management were analyzed. On the case study, company's information needs were defined, and for these needs, neccessary file management structures were built to the PDM-system used by the company. Handling procedures for the documentation created in product projects were also updated to be consistent with the new environment. The most relevant issue of this study was to decide how to manage product data created in projects. In procedures presented, Patria Weapon Systems controls product data separately from projects. Study also presents numerous proposals for further development of product projects' information management.
