Tuotannonsuunnittelun ja sisäisen varastologistiikan kehittäminen tuottavuuden kannalta

Diplomityön tavoitteena on kehittää erään metsäteollisuusyrityksen tuotannon-suunnittelua ja sisäistä varastologistiikkaa tuottavuuden parantamiseksi. Työssä keskitytään välituotteista johtuvaan problematiikkaan. Ongelmana ovat suuret välituotevarastot ja toimintamalleissa sekä pelisäännöissä olevat puutteet. Työn päätavoitteena on uuden toimintamallin kehittäminen tuotannon- ja materiaalinohjaukseen. Työn teoriaosassa esitellään lyhyesti tuotannon- ja materiaalinohjausta sekä tuottavuutta. Työn empiirisessä osassa analysoidaan jatkojalostuksen tuotantoja sekä välituotevarastoja. Työssä selvitetään eri välituotteiden määrät ja varaston kiertonopeudet raaka-ainerullille. Analyysien perusteella kehitettiin uusi toimintamalli tuotannon- ja materiaalinohjaukseen. Työssä ehdotettiin myös varastoinvestointia ja jälkirullauskapasiteetin lisäystä, jotta optimaalinen toiminta olisi tulevaisuudessa mahdollista. Diplomityön seurauksena aloitetaan projekti, jonka tavoitteena on parantaa tehtaan sisäistä tehokkuutta. Vaikutukset näkyvät monissa toiminnoissa, kuten varastoissa, tuotannossa sekä myynnissä. Parannusehdotuksilla voidaan saavuttaa vuosittain muutaman miljoonan euron säästöt. Projektin yksi tärkeä tekijä on selvittää, kuinka toimintaidea olisi hyödynnettävissä yrityksen muissa tehtaissa.

The objective of this thesis is to develop the production planning and internal logistics to attain better productivity in one mill of a forest industrial company. The thesis concentrates on the problems of semi-finished products. The issue is the large stores of these products, and also the lack of operation models and rules. The main goal is the development of a new operation model for the production and inventory management. In the theoretical part of this thesis a short introduction of production and inventory management and productivity are included. The production of the upgraded products and the stores of the semi-finished products are analysed in the empirical part. The number of semi-finished products and the turnover of raw material reels are defined. The new operation model of the production and inventory management is developed on the basis of these analyses. An investment in a new ware-house and an increase rewinding capacity were proposed. That would change the optimization in the activities in the future. As consequence of this thesis a new project will be started, the objective of which is better internal efficiency in the mill. The effects of this project will be seen in several actions, such as in storing, production and sales. With these improvements savings as large as a few million euros a year could be reached. One of the important elements in the project will be to consider, how new the operation model could be used in other mills of the company.
