Developing Support for Scenario Process: A Scenario Study on Lappeenranta University of Technology from 2006 to 2016

Epävarmuus ei ole outoa enää julkishallinon alueellakaan. Globalisaation,tietotalous ja muut yksityissektoria ravistelleet ilmiöt ovat lisänneet mielenkiintoa erilaisiin tekniikoihin joilla voidaan lievittää epävarmuudesta aiheutuvia ongelmia. Tämä raportti kuvailee skenaariosuunnittelun käyttöä eräänä mahdollisuutena epävarmuuden hallintaan julkishallinnossa ja yksityissektorilla. Raportti sijoittuu samaan skenaariotutkimuksen jatkumoon edellisten LTY:ssä toteutettujen skenaariotutkimusten kanssa. tutkimus valottaa tutkimuksen ja käytännön työn nykytilaa helposti hyödynnettävässä muodossa. Rapostin kontribuutio on kuvata tutkimukseen perustuva tuettu skenaarioprosessi ja syntyneet skenaariot, keskittyen prosessin tukemiseen eri menetelmin.

Recent developments have revealed that uncertainty is no stranger to governmental organizations anymore. Similar development, labeled as globalization, information economy and such have shaken the private sector, resulting in increased interest in management techniques for alleviating the well-known troubles, which stem from uncertainty. This report describes one possible approach to manage uncertainty in public and private organizations, namely scenario planning, or scenarios. This report can be positioned in the continuum of previous studies ofscenario planning undertaken in Lappeenranta University of Technology. For thisparticular report, the purpose is to provide an overview to the present state of practice and the results of some of these sessions, and package them to a usable form for decision makers. As for the content, the report describes a tested concept of supported scenario process and the resulting scenarios for Lappeenranta University of Technology. Thus the contribution of this report is to provide an overview to and an example of one way to reduce uncertainty in an organizationin and efficient manner by utilizing support tools in scenario process
