T&K-yhteistyöprojektinvalintakriteerit ja - päätösprosessi: Case VR Cargo

Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli löytää yritysten välisten tutkimus- ja kehityshankkeiden valintaan liittyviä kriittisiä tekijöitä ja luoda T&K-verkostojen analysointiin soveltuva malli, jonka avulla tutkimuksen caseyritys VR Cargo voi tehdä päätöksiä panostuksistaan eri hankkeisiin ja ylipäätänsä siitä, missä kannattaa olla mukana sekä kuinka löytää strategisia kehityskumppaneita. Työn teoriaosuus tehtiin kirjallisuuskatsauksena aiempaan T&K-tutkimukseen ja empiria osuus suoritettiin tekemällä teemahaastatteluja VR Cargossa sekä kahdessa vertailuyrityksessä. Tutkimuksessa havaittiin useita erilaisia kriittisiä tekijöitä T&K-yhteistyöhankkeisiin liittyen. Yrityksen on mm. huomioitava T&K-hankkeen strateginen sopivuus ja lisäarvo, määriteltävä motiivit ja riskit, yrityskohtaisten tekijöiden ovat oltava kunnossa, on tiedettävä millainen on yritykselle hyvä ja sopiva partneri sekä yhteistyötason tekijät on huomioitava. Tutkimuksessa rakennettua hankkeiden valintaan liittyvää päätöspuumallia, ei ole tarkoitettu tekemään lopullista valintapäätöstä, vaan sen tarkoituksena on helpottaa ja tukea valintaprosessia ja alentaa näin todennäköisyyttä unohtaa jokin tärkeä seikka valintaprosessissa.

The objective of this study was to find out the critical factors related to research and development projects selection and to create a model for analyzing R&D-networks. With the help of the model the case company VR Cargo could make decisions on investments inprojects and generally where they should be involved and how to find strategic development partners. The theoretical part of the thesis was made with the help of the theoretical literature review based on earlier R&D-research. The empirical part was made by theme interviews in VR Cargo and two comparison companies. The research showed several different kinds of critical factors related to R&D-cooperation projects. Companies have to e.g. take into account the strategic fit and added value of the R&D-project, define motives and risks, the factors in the company level should be in order, companies have to know what kind of partner is adequate and suitable and the factors in the cooperation level have to take into account. The decision tree model related to projects selection, build in the research, is not implemented to make the final decision, instead it's purpose is to ease and support the selection process and decrease the possibility to forget some important issue.
