Traducción comentada del ámbito biomédico:«La integración de los genomas»

El presente trabajo consiste en la traducción comentada de un artículo científico. Nuestros objetivos son reflexionar sobre las características y problemas de la traducción especializada, analizar las estrategias y las soluciones propuestas, y producir un texto meta ‘adecuado’ teniendo en cuenta la tipología textual y el ámbito al que pertenece.

The discipline of Genetics plays a crucial role in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment ofmany diseases and disorders. The continuous scientific research, especially in this field, makes scientific subjects a frequent and popular source of translation. In this paper we analyze some specialized translation characteristics which become translation problems such as language structure, terminology, and lexical elements. We present these problems by sections together with the translation strategies, the justifications, and the solutions based on the context, field, and target language style in order to better reflect the necessity of linking language skills and scientific knowledge together to produce an accurate and univocal text. However, this work focuses on the translation into Spanish of English complex noun phrases which constitute one of the most troublesome problems to solve within the specialized translation, given the difficulty to analyze the order and connection among noun pre-modifiers. The findings of their translation show obvious signs of the difference not only between languages but also in the way they both describe phenomena and concepts. After a deep reflection on the topics we present in this work, we have been able to provide a professional translation that can be a useful tool to consult and clarify linguistic doubts and to increase the knowledge of genetics and others related disciplines.
