Resumo |
El trabajo trata la traducción del manga al castellano (cuestiones lingüísticas, metodológicas y técnicas): las características principales del japonés, el proceso de traducción, los métodos y las opciones de adaptación empleados por las editoriales españolas, y la compatibilidad de escritura en equipos españoles. Finalmente, incluye un ejemplo real de traducción. Nowadays, publishing manga has become a very popular market in Spain that reaches awide audience. Moreover, manga fanatics – also known as “otakus” – increasingly demandthe highest quality from the translations of their favourite series. Therefore, the need forspecialised translators in this sector has increased up to a great extent; yet, there is only onecollege in Barcelona in which students may choose Japanese as a second language. As for Ilove translating and manga, I have decided to study the processes of its translation in orderto forward the interest of studying it at Pompeu Fabra University – even though there is noJapanese department. As you might know, manga is the term used to refer to comicsoriginally drawn by Japanese artists; consequently, they are primarily written in Japanese, which is a particularly difficult language involving special expressions and nuances. That iswhy in this project I first introduce the language, and then present the translation of anexcerpt from a one-shot manga, discussing the difficulties, problems and characteristics Ihave encountered during the process. Furthermore, I include a brief summary of thenecessary Windows and Mac OS systems settings to read and write Japanese with yourcomputer, as well as of the various language-related programs and utilities (e. g., Opticalcharacter recognition). To sum up, using the translation of a manga as an example, thisproject shows significant differences between Japanese and Spanish culture and the use oflanguage in comics, and how these differences influence localization processes. |
