Tradução técnica em contexto empresarial: o mundo da metalúrgica na Painel 2000

Relatório de estágio de mestrado em Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue

Este relatório pretende apresentar o trabalho desenvolvido durante o meu estágio curricular, realizado no âmbito do Mestrado de Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue da Universidade do Minho. Este teve a duração de três meses e foi realizado na empresa Painel 2000, SA, sediada em Amares, distrito de Braga. As empresas têm como principal preocupação a disponibilidade dos seus websites e catálogos em várias línguas, porém documentos mais técnicos, como de métodos de ensaio e manuseio de materiais, não estão disponíveis na língua materna dos trabalhadores dessas mesmas empresas. O âmbito do meu estágio foi a tradução desses mesmos documentos. Numa primeira fase deste relatório irei referir algumas das teorias e conceitos que permitem enquadrar tradução técnica, passando pelas fases de tradução que fazem parte de um projeto e explicar o conceito de terminologia. Seguidamente, serão mencionadas as ferramentas de tradução assistida por computador (CAT Tools) e é feita uma breve distinção entre estes recursos e a tradução automática. É também aqui apresentada a ferramenta utilizada durante o estágio. Será também feita uma apresentação da empresa e do estágio, seguindo-se uma referência aos trabalhos realizados e à metodologia de trabalho adotada. Na parte final será introduzida uma pequena caracterização dos processos de tradução e apresentação dos problemas encontrados e as respetivas soluções.

This report is meant to present the work developed over the internship, performed under the scope from the master in Translation and Multilingual Communication. This internship in Painel 2000, SA, headquartered in Amares, Braga district, had the duration of three months. The companies have as main concern the availability of its websites and catalogs in several languages, however more technical documents, like testing procedures and materials handling, are not available in the native language of these companies’ employees. The scope of my internship was the translation of those same documents. In the initial phase of this thesis I will outline the theories that make technical translation, going through each stage of the translation’s project and explain the terminology concept. In the next part, I will mention the machine aided translation tools, a brief distinction between these resources and automatic translation will be made. It will also be presented the tool used during the internship. The company will also be introduced and I will provide information about the internship, followed by a reference to the work done and the adopted work methods. In the final part it will be introduced a short characterization of the translation procedures and I will report the problems encountered and the respective solutions.
