Os contextos de educação pré-escolar caraterizam-se por serem a primeira etapa de educação ao longo da vida. Surgem como lugares importantes na formação da criança, pois é neles que as crianças aprendem como devem viver em grupo, relacionando-se com os outros, aprendem o que é o bem e o que é o mal, que é muito importante criar laços de amizade com outras crianças e adultos. A creche e o jardim de infância são contextos que devem afirmar-se como espaços onde as crianças se desenvolvem e exercem a sua cidadania. Neste sentido, elas crescem como cidadãs e são preparadas para viver numa sociedade democrática, de direitos e de deveres cuja é pautada por valores. Só assim, será possível ter, no futuro, cidadãos críticos, solidários e responsáveis pelas suas ações e atitudes. Este trabalho integra-se na área da Formação Pessoal e Social e desenvolve-se através de um conjunto de atividades que partiram do contar de algumas histórias às crianças. Tem como finalidade contribuir para a promoção de crianças/cidadãos com atitudes e valores que permitam ser, no presente e no futuro, crianças e adultos/cidadãos conscientes, críticos e solidários, Pretende ser um contributo para demonstrar a importância de educar para a cidadania desde a primeira infância.

The contexts of pre-school education are characterized by being the first stage of education throughout life. They emerge as important places for the child’s development, because it is right there where the children learn how to live in groups, how to relate to others; they learn the difference between good and bad, and that it is very important to create bonds with other children and adults. The two contexts, nursery and kindergarden, should assert themselves as places, where the children grow and practice citizenship. In this sense, they grow as citizens and they are prepared to live in a value-driven democratic society, with rights and duties. Only in this way is it possible, in the future, to have critical and supportive citizens who are responsible for their actions and attitudes. This assignment is part of the ‘Personal and Social Training’ area and it is developed through a set of activities which had, as a starting point, the story-telling to children. Its aim is to contribute to the promotion of the child/citizen with attitudes and values which allow them to be, in the present and in the future, conscious, critical and supportive children and adults. It should be a contribution to demonstrate the importance of citizenship education since early childhood.
