O terrorismo e o impacto nos Direitos Humanos

Terrorism is at the center of speeches in contemporary societies. Terrorism has caused a great instability in Western society, but if before the Islamic fundamentalist terrorism was just a threat to the West, the Arab world of today suffers this same reality. Human rights conquered in the past, are being constantly violated and forgotten by the countries that make them flag of their ideals as the US, that this fight against terrorism already violated in every way those rights. Human rights are the fundamental pillars to be able to live in society and serve to protect the humanity of the atrocities that have been committed in the past with the great wars. Atrocities as torture, which is prohibited by several international documents and yet these inhumane practices continue to be used as a means of combating terrorism. Democracies are fragmented and the great challenge facing this century is finding means to contain the growth of these Islamic radicals, without jeopardizing the universally known human values.

O terrorismo está no centro das discussões nas sociedades contemporâneas. Vivemos tempos de mudança e de medo. O terrorismo tem provocado uma grande instabilidade na sociedade ocidental, mas se em tempos o terrorismo fundamentalista islâmico era apenas uma ameaça para o ocidente, hoje o mundo árabe sofre de perto esta mesma realidade. Os Direitos Humanos conquistados no passado, estão a ser constantemente violados e esquecidos, pelos países que fazem deles bandeira dos seus ideais como é o caso dos EUA, que nesta luta contra o terrorismo já violaram em todos os sentidos esses mesmos direitos. Os Direitos Humanos são os pilares fundamentais para se poder viver em sociedade e servem para proteger a Humanidade das atrocidades que já foram cometidas no passado com as grandes guerras. Atrocidades como a tortura, que é proibida por vários documentos Internacionais e no entanto continua-se a recorrer a estas práticas desumanas, como forma de combate ao terrorismo. As Democracias estão fragmentadas e o grande desafio que se coloca neste século é encontrar soluções que permitam conter o crescimento destes radicais islâmicos, sem se pôr em causa os valores humanos universalmente conhecidos.
