A Work Project, presented as part of the requirements for the Award of a Masters Degree in Management from the NOVA – School of Business and Economics This paper studies the possible changes on the reverse logistics chain at Worten, the leading Portuguese electronics retailer, in order to further decrease costs while keeping service level high standards. Along this study different solutions are presented which comprise different operational levels such as: process improvement, rationalization of resources utilized, and transports rationalization. By recurring to the data gathered from 10 Worten stores regarding interviews, and activity costing plus the analysis of 295,506 transport movements from 2012, it was determined that there is value up to 250,000 euros to be captured only by standardizing, improving and reframing current reverse logistic processes undertaken by Worten. |
