Dissertation presented to obtain the Ph.D degree in Biology, Cell Biology Cell division is a fundamental process of all living organisms by which a parental cell divides into two genetically identical daughter cells. Faithful cell division requires duplication and subsequent equal distribution of the parental genetic information, the genome, between daughter cells. In eukaryotes, genomic information is organized in chromosomes, which consist of linear DNA sequences packaged into histone protein-DNA complexes called nucleosomes.(...) |
