Maria Terra: viagem pela memória musical de uma comunidade (entre o telúrico e o tecnoclógico): trabalho de projecto

Trabalho de Projecto submetido à Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema para cumprimento dos requisitos necessários à obtenção do grau de Mestre em Teatro - especialização em Artes Performativas – Teatro-Música.

Este projecto de Teatro-Música com uma grande vertente comunitária foi criado e aplicado no concelho de Mortágua com duas fases fulcrais distintas: a primeira, com base na investigação e recolha de música tradicional no referido concelho; a segunda, com a elaboração e apresentação ao público de uma performance teatral, com o intuito de levar à comunidade mortaguense as recolhas por nós colectadas. Para este efeito, contámos com a colaboração de vários membros desta comunidade, entre intérpretes e técnicos que seentregaram por completo a este projecto. A música tradicional deste concelho foi, assim, o mote desta apresentação, na qual foram também integrados vários textos de autores locais ou outros que, não sendo locais, se basearam no imaginário rural e telúrico e na Literatura Oral Tradicional na criação das suas obras. Pretendeu-se, ao invés de uma recriação, uma abordagem contemporânea verificada, essencialmente, nos arranjos musicais, de forma a captar o interesse da população em geral e, em particular, dos jovens para a problemática do gradual desaparecimento das nossas tradições orais. Neste relatório faremos uma reflexão escrita descrevendo todo o processo do trabalho de campo relativo à recolha musical e de todas as fases inerentes à construção do espectáculo Maria Terra. Faremos, também, uma breve localização do concelho de Mortágua, numa análise da sua tradição musical e dos temas de música tradicional por nós recolhidos e levados a palco.

With a large communitarian component, this Music-Theatre project was created and applied in the municipality of Mortágua, having two different key stages: the first one, based on the research and collection of traditional music in that municipality; the second one, with the preparation and public presentation of a theatrical performance, in order to expose to the Mortágua community the musical collection obtained by us to. For this purpose, we counted with the collaboration of several members of the mentioned community, both performers and technicians, who have completely embraced this project as their own. The traditional music of this region was the root of this presentation, in which were also integrated several texts from local authors or others which, not being local, based the creation of their works in rural and bucolic imagery and in the Oral Traditional Literature. A contemporary approach verified primarily on the musical arrangements was intended, rather than a recreation, in order to capture the interest of the population in general and, in particular, the youth this way helping to raise awareness to the problem of gradual disappearance of our oral traditions. In this report we will make a written reflection describing the whole process of fieldwork on the musical collection and all the stages involved in structuring the Maria Terra show. Also, we will briefly locate the municipality of Mortágua, and analyse its musical traditions and the themes of traditional music that we have collected and brought to the stage.
